TAIGA is an electronic duo originating from Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang. They are known for their innovative fusion of traditional nomadic sounds with modern electronic techniques, creating a distinct genre of psychedelic nomadic music.
Formed in 2014, Taiga initially embarked on a quest to uncover the essence of nomadic music by employing instruments such as the Morin khuur, bass drum, Doshpuluur, and Tuvan throat singing. Deeply rooted in Mongolian musical traditions, they seamlessly blend khoomei (throat singing), percussion, and stringed instruments, including the horse-head fiddle and doshpuluur, with electronic influences from dub, progressive, trance, and electronic dance music.
Relocating to the vibrant city of Chengdu in 2019, TAIGA evolved from a folk band into a versatile late-night club, captivating audiences with their psychotic live performances and attracting a diverse and enthusiastic fanbase.
